We provide an opportunity to school aged children to learn the Tamil language and engage in cultural performances. Parents also actively participate in our cultural activities. This approach enables and equips parents to provide ongoing support and guidance to children outside of our formal sessions.
TAMIL LANGUAGE
Tamil (Thamizh) is the oldest of the South Indian family of languages and the only classical language still in use in its ancient form. Our Tamil language classes are held every Sundays during school terms at the Ballajura Community College.
CLASSICAL, FOLK AND CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
Our students learn classical, folk & contemporary music as part of their language & cultural learning sessions & perform at various cultural events.
POETRY, SPEECH AND DRAMA
Our teachers and parents help students to develop and strengthen their language skills and abilities by participating in poetry, speech and drama competitions and performances.
TRADITIONAL INSTRUMENTS
Our volunteers, with the support of Tamil Association of Western Australia, offer the Parai traditional drumming lessons at our school on alternate Sundays to the Silambam martial art classes.
BHARATHANATYAM
Bharatanatyam, also previously called Sadhir Attam, is a major form of Indian classical dance that originated in Tamil Nadu.
TRADITIONAL MARTIAL ART - SILAMBAM
